The Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) is proud to be formally recognised in the United Nations Secretary‑General’s report on Improving Global Road Safety, submitted to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

In the report, GRSP is highlighted for its leadership and impact in several critical areas:

  • Building future road safety leaders:
The report acknowledges that the global road safety leadership courses, delivered by Johns Hopkins University in conjunction with the Global Road Safety Partnership, have trained more than 1,100 leaders from 84 countries — strengthening institutional capacity around the world.
    (Report reference: paragraph 20)
  • Strengthening road safety governance:
GRSP’s work establishing multisector coalitions in 15 countries is recognised as part of global progress in implementing safer system interventions.
    (Report reference: paragraph 24)
  • Developing specialist road policing capacity:
The report highlights GRSP’s delivery of specialised training for police and emergency responders across Latin America, Africa and Asia — helping to improve crash investigation and coordinated emergency response.
    (Report reference: paragraph 37)

This recognition highlights the global importance of GRSP’s mission: strengthening legislation, building capable and confident road safety institutions, and supporting effective road policing — all directed towards one goal:

Reducing the enormous and preventable burden of road trauma worldwide.

GRSP CEO, Dave Cliff, commenting on the report said, “We remain committed to working with governments, civil society, the private sector, police and international partners to ensure safer roads for all.  The UN Secretary General’s report is important recognition of the work of GRSP and our many partners who are determined to reduce global road trauma.”
