Vietnam Red Cross pushes for stronger implementation of the national circular regulating motorcycle helmet quality

Back to news

On October 2nd, Vietnam Red Cross, the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) and the Global Road Safety Partnership co-hosted a workshop to push regulators for better management and coordination of the Circular regulating motorcycle helmet quality.

Forty-one participants from the implementing Ministries (Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, Transport and Public Security) attended the workshop. Officials from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Can Tho province shared their experiences and challenges enforcing the Circular. Participants consulted on appropriate strategies and solutions for regulating the proliferation of sub-quality helmets, particularly targeting the supply side (manufacturers and distributors), and pledges to improve coordination among the implementing Ministries were publicly made.

The event was part of the Vietnam Red Cross project advocating for stronger regulation of motorcycle helmet quality as part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Road Safety Programme.
