Shell’s own movie stars

Back to news

The adage that all of us can play a part in road safety is not new; yet the team at Shell China have managed to demonstrate it in a wonderfully refreshing way by letting its team and their families be movie stars.

In June, the Shell China Country Leadership Team endorsed a special project to support China’s road safety education efforts… and now, after several months of hard work, the final product, a ‘micro movie’, is ready to be shared.

Project Manager Bernd Marx said of the project, ‘What makes this film special is that all the actors are Shell China employees and their families’.

More than 100 team members and their children from more than 15 different Shell China businesses contributed to the Shell China Road Safety micro movie with the aim to raise awareness of road safety both internally and externally.

What’s it about? The micro movie tells the sad story of a little girl named Wei-Wei who lost her father in a tragic road traffic crash. The film gives a clear message about the importance of road safety in a natural, storytelling manner, while passing on key road safety messages around Shell’s ‘Life Saving Rules’.

The great performances of the Shell China team together with the traditional Chinese cultural setting make the messages in the film so powerful. It provides food for thought on how each of us can raise awareness of road safety within our communities and for future generations.
