Total expanding initiatives for road safety

Back to news

Total is present in 130 countries worldwide, and their efforts for road safety are steadily expanding – not only as member of the GRSP Executive Committee, and not only with their road safety initiatives in the Africa/Middle East, but additionally, now as a partner of the Global Road Safety Initiative Phase 2 (GRSI-2).

In July a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Total and GRSI-2 (signed by Andrew Pearce of GRSP), adding Total to a list of five global corporations that provide support to GRSI-2. GRSI-2 is the second phase of the Global Road Safety Initiative, the world’s largest joint commitment of private sector resources towards road safety in low and middle-income countries.

The involvement of Total with GRSI-2 is particularly relevant, based on Total’s existing road safety efforts in Africa and the Middle East. The Africa/Middle East Division (AMO) of Total is continuously investing in the growth of societies where they are present – and road safety is one of their key areas of focus.

One of the world’s largest petroleum and gas groups, it is through strategic partnerships such as GRSP and investment in programmes such as GRSI-2, that together efforts for road safety make a difference on our roads each day.
