Making a "safe start in a journey of life"

In November, a campaign titled "First car seat - Safe start in a journey of life" was launched in Poland, Hungary, and Ukraine. The campaign was initiated by Raben Group and the Global Road Safety Partnership, and is currently supported by several organisations including the Sesame Workshop, a partner of GRSP. Local divisions of the Global Road Safety Partnership including GRSP Hungary and GRSP Poland, as well as GRSP's partner in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Road Safety Partnership (URSA), are implementing national campaigns in each country.

Japanese wisdom inspires vision for road safety in Central Europe

In Japanese culture there is a proverb: "Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare."  The statement resonated recently with thirteen partners from the road safety project, Save Our Lives (SOL), as they worked to create a common vision to address road safety in Central Europe.

Poland seeks new opportunities to improve road safety

Paying tribute to those killed in road crashes and taking a united stand to reduce road deaths were among the key themes of an international conference organized by the Polish Government just after the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on 22 November.

In 2009 alone, 4,572 people were killed in road crashes in Poland, putting the country on the top of the list for road-crash-related deaths in Europe.

Entitled "Road Accident Victims - Our Common Responsibility," the conference was held at the Polish Parliament building in Warsaw.
