What motivates Omanis to attend a seminar in Thailand that addresses road safety in Asia? The Global Road Safety Partnership had the privilege to discover the answer first-hand during the annual seminar. “In Oman, we have many more road crash and injury problems with vehicles, and many less with motorcycles and bicycles. As part of its ongoing efforts to promote road safety in the Sultanate of Oman, Shell – a partner of the Global Road Safety Partnership for over ten years – launched a promising initiative aimed at reducing crash rates in the country under the title “Together for Accident Free Oman". In partnership with Sheida International and Co. and Oman Road Safety Association, Shell set off an interactive road show that toured 22 crowded locations across Oman throughout January, including commercial malls, colleges and universities.

New Animation Campaign Exposes the Hidden Dangers on the Roads Which Kills 3,000 Everyday

On 11 May 2011, at the launch of the Decade of Action for Road Safety, the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and YOURS - Youth for Road Safety have initiated an innovative campaign to build awareness and end death and injuries on the roads.

STEVE - a quirky, lively and poignant animation was developed through discussions at the First Regional Youth Assembly for Road Safety in Oman in February 2011. Deaths due to road crash injuries is the number one killer of youth between 15 and 29 years old.
