Just Published: Bloomberg Philanthropies Annual Report

Back to news

just-published-bloomberg-philanthropies-annual-reportBloomberg Philanthropies has already established itself as a force for policy innovation and global collaboration, and this month Fast Company named Bloomberg Philanthropies the world’s second most innovative organization, behind only Google. This honour is a reflection of the groundbreaking work that is happening in each of their different programme areas.

February also saw the release of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Annual Report; an outstanding publication detailing the remarkable work being undertaken in areas of:

  • the environment;
  • public health (including the USD125 million Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Road Safety Programme);
  • government innovation;
  • education;
  • and the arts.

The report couples narrative overviews of the many carefully managed projects which are helping to improve the lives of billions of people with clear facts and figures on their scope and effect. Using the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Road Safety Programme as an example, the report details the work being done in one country, Kenya, around speed reduction, then provides hard data on the reach of the programme as a whole.

From 2010-2013:

  • 1.67 billion people in 6 countries covered by improved road safety laws
  • 22,000 professionals trained on road safety interventions
  • 65 million people reached through public media campaigns
  • 3.55 million observations conducted to monitor impact
  • 13,000 LIVES SAVED.
