Annual Report 2010

Our results for 2010 are outlined in this Annual Report. (PDF)

The 2011 Annual Report will be published shortly.

Our programme for 2012 is described below.

Our 2012 Action Plan

Health, Safety, Environment & Security

We are committed to ensuring that none of our advisors and contract staff is injured at work. We recognise that we work in difficult areas, and with a number of staff in remote locations. As such we support our team with regular team meetings and meet face to face as much as is practical. We utilise the excellent support from the International Federation of Red Cross security team to ensure that our staff are fully briefed for new locations. New staff joining our team will receive a full induction.

Build new partnerships and maintain existing ones

We aim to build five new partnerships in 2012, either at regional, national or city level. We also expect to support one of our partnerships to become self-sustaining.

During 2012 we will continue to implement multi-country global good practice projects that are based around the global good practice guidelines.

The key ones of these are:

  • The Bloomberg Philanthropies funded RS10 project, operating in Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, Kenya, India, Cambodia, Vietnam and China.
  • The Global Road Safety Initiative, operating in Brazil, China, Africa, and Asean countries
  • The European Union funded Save our Lives project, operating in Poland, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy and Germany.
  • The European Union funded Mediterranean project, EUMENA, working with Southern Mediterranean countries and Turkey.

Develop new good practice material

During 2012 we will be adding to our library of social marketing and capacity building training materials. We will also continue to make new language translations of the global good practice manuals where possible.

We will also continue our role in the International Standards Organisation "ISO39001 Road Safety Management Standard" group.

Communicate the Global Road Safety Partnership externally and internally

During 2012 we will continue the upgrade of our new website (this site), and use new communications channels to reach wider audiences.

We will also increase our emphasis on internal team communications.

Contribute to Global Road Safety Agenda

We support UN Road Safety Collaboration through membership and support to committees on Good Practice and Work related road safety.

Develop the collaboration with IFRC and National Societies

As the Reference Centre for road safety within the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, we will be working where possible with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to develop a consistent global humanitarian approach to road safety.

Funding

We will work during 2012 to increase both the amount of funding we have, and the length of time that funding lasts for. We recognise clearly that road safety requires a programme approach rather than a project approach, and so are aiming to develop medium and long term commitments to funding in order to build sustainable impacts on road crash death and injury.

Our staff, team and organisation

We continuously work to develop and enlarge our Global Team and the ways we work together and support each other.
